This digest is particularly useful because the cases cited for a particular legal issue or rule are available in West’s Education Law Reporter. Why would you use West’s Education Law Digest? You are interested in the legal application of a specific education law issues, and want to navigate to specific legal references. While the digest does not have an index, it does have an outline of Digests Topics available near the front of each volume. This digest is particularly useful for those researching a very specific legal issue, and West’s key system provides you with the key cite number to expand your search, allowing you to search by key number for additional primary and secondary resources. Research tip: you can take the key cite numbers or key cite a specific case found in the digest to expand your search. The digest is easy to use, organized within seven chapters that are divided by different areas of education law: “[1] School district governance and finance, [2] Church-state relationship in education, [3] Student rights and responsibilities , [4], Employee rights and responsibilities, [5] Discrimination : disability, national origin, race, and sex, [6] Civil rights cases : special rules , [& 7]Procedural parameters.” Appendix B is also useful because it provides the cases in chronological order and classifies them as either involving public, private, higher education, or nonschool litigants.
